I have problem loading some programs the message I get is

16 bit Windows Subsystem

C:\Windows|system32|autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to
terminate the application.

Can anyone help me figure how to get these programs loaded?

Depends on the programs, but generally it's going to be a great hassle for
very little gain. This indicates that the programs are old and outdated -
you might check the manufacturer's web site to see if they offer an updated
version.
