Matrix RAID and Promise TX4310

Hello,

I am using a P5Q Premium MOBO that has the Intel Matrix RAID controller (on the Intell ICH10R Southbridge)
I have setup 3 x 1 TB Seagate SATA drives in a RAID 5 and started moving lots of data to it.
I have a 80Gb drive plugged into the SIL5723 SATA connector (blue connector) on the motherboard running Win2k3 x64 which the system obviously boots from.

I also have a 4 X 500 GB RAID 5 on a Promise TX4310.
I would like to move the data from the Promise RAID to the Matrix RAID, but as soon as I plug in the PCI Promise card,
The Matrix BIOS refuses to see the 3 terabyte drives.
Basically the Matrix RAID simply disappears when the Promise card is added.
Once the system boots, I am warned that a driver or service cannot start (which is the istor.sys) driver, because it is as if the 3 TB drives werent even physically in the system. The Promise controller seems to work fine and I can see its RAID without issue.
As soon as the Promise card is removed, the Matrix RAID comes back.

Is this a known issue, or am I doing something wrong?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance..:)

Have you tried other PCI slots?
It sounds like either a IRQ or memory address is being stepped on by the PCI card you are plugging in.

Good luck!

Yes...I thought of that actually...but unfortunately there are only two PCI slots on the P5Q Premium, and I have tried both ..:(

Thank you very much for the reply!
