I need a newer cpu. Im running a AMD 3200 in my nforce 4 series MOBO made by EVGA. I want to know what my options are as far as putting a new CPU in. Links to products on newegg or tigerdirect would be greatly appreciated. This is a 939pin MOBO made by EVGA. model number 133-k8-nf41-XX

I think my options are AMD2, FX- XX, 64
Thank you

Basically only 939 CPU's. (FX or X2)

I don't think there are any FX CPU's there (newegg), except the F socket that will not work on your MB. Not sure, but I thought FX are single core. I think your better off with a dual (or quad) CPU system.

So you only have small options left, and newegg only list 5 CPUs I see that are 939. Opterons would be the last resort to getting more out of your old system, but they are still quite up there in price, namely cause they are phased out, as well as cherry picked chips. If you OC, the 175 might give the best bang out of the 3 they have. But spending 153 bucks really doesn't justify much, especially on a dead end deal.

I'd recommend just saving up, and getting a new system of your choice, whether its AMD's phenom or Intel C2D/C2Quad.

nForce 4 chipset is based on 939 socket, so you cannot run any AM2 socket AMD CPUs.

Here are your choices: A64, A64 X2 (only 939 socket), FX (only 939), and Opteron (939).

You need to make sure the CPU you purchased is 939 socket, not AM2 socket.
