I haven't found one place or another that answers this question and I think its pretty straight forward but I'm getting mixed results. Lets assume there is a dual core processor, each core having L1 and L2 cache, and then a shared L3 cache for both cores. If you disable the second core will the first core utilize 100% of the L3 cache?

uh

I am assuming you have a single core proc that used to be a dual core and want to know if the single core will use the cache from both procs?

Run CPUz and find out. My money is no; No free lunch from Intel. The cache is shared so the procs can talk to each-other without having to go through the bus. I dont think one proc can actually use the others cache if it itself is not.

Would interesting to get a definitive answer tho

Yes it would.

its not good theory.
