So do you need an adapter for the 8 pin connector or do most beefcake powersupplies have the 8 pin readily available for the vid card?

And what type of power supply would be good for this card ( what its like 330W peak load or something? )

So if I got 2 for crossfire probably at least 1000 Watts. Probably Thermal take or what else are good brands?

#1) At this point in time, There is no crossfire support for this card though it will likely come in the future.

#2) A 750w PSU would still be more than enough for this system in XFire. THG showed a Max System Power usage of 360Watts and AnandTech showed Max System Power usage of 290Watts. According to AMD, the max PowerDraw is just under 200watts. This could be about right and the variance between the sites due to the other parts used in the system such as Dual vs Quad Core, Amount of RAM, Motherboard, Fans, etc.. etc.. etc...

This would mean you need 400w for your Cards.
350w for the test of the system is Plenty.

Heck, folks have run 8800GTX systems off good 380w Power Supplies.

I think they go through this on the tomshardware review, and a few others. 2 - 6pin connections are fine, only need to have 1. 6 pin and 1 - 8 pin if you want to overclock. I think the most ive seen power consumption wise was 428 watts while running 3dmark06 to stress the card and 2 instances of prime95 at the same time to stress the cpu. Add 100 watts to that number and thats what you would call a good minimum for a psu (428 + 100 = 528, or a 550 (branded!) watt psu, the extra 122 or so to be on the safe side).

I have a 500 watt power supply and a 300W(max) 250W continuous thermaltake vga drive bay power supply.

Wondering if I plugged in 1 pci-e 6 pin to each card through the VGA power supply and then plugged in the 8 pins from the main power supply if that would cut it . Or maybe that would be underpowered hmm....

Not planning on getting 2 cards yet though , just one for now maybe... Just thinking about future power requirements .. good input !
