Cheap case, good airflow

One of the next couple of parts on my PC Hit List, is the case.

Now, I was inspired by a mod in CustomPC, and that cracking design on the HP Blackbird, and want to have a go at modifying my own case.

Now, there's a chance I'm gonna completely screw this up, so I want to start with a relatively cheap ATX case, and also something with some halfway decent airflow to begin with (don't figure I'd be too hot at balancing fans!)

Anyone got any suggestions?

The lower-end CoolerMaster Elite cases are inexpensive and offer decent airflow. I've used at least four of them within the last year.
