My motherboard just went out on my few year old setup. I currently have a watercooled pentium d 805(running at 3.5) with 2 gigs of ddr2 800mhz memory 7600gt pcix etc. I only have $80-125 to spend right now so I was just going to upgrade the motherboard and run the same cpu for a few months until I get the money to upgrade to a new one. I havent been keeping up with the latest and greatest technology so I'm not sure what kind of motehrboard I should get that will allow me to run my pentium d805 but still have lots of room for upgrading the cpu to a faster one in the future.

The main features i'm looking for are:

Upgradeability to a faster cpu and newer techonlogy
Will work with my current setup for now
Overclockability
Price.

Any help or suggestions at all will be greatly appreciated. I've been trying to do some searching on newegg myself and am very confused with all the new chipsets which ones will work with my cpu or not.

For 80-$100 any 965, 975 chipset would fit that budget. The ASUS 965 P5B Deluxe supports Q6600 and E8400. Also, the 945 chipsets support the 805-D. The X38 DOES NOT and I'm not sure about the P35. My 805-D runs at 3.5 on air on a 945G Micro.

I have an 805D in a Gigabyte GA-965P-SD3 clocked to 3.6 on air. The limiting factor on it that I see is the FSB since it doesn't support 1333.

I was debating replacing it, but now I'm just going to buy a Q6600 which only has a 1066 bus speed anyway.
