look at my sig.. Rig is starting to get old and i just popped a 8800gt in there last night. Finally got all the kinks out because of Ntune not liking my rig. The card is awesome over my prior 1900xtx.. Could my rig pump two 8800 gt's? I know all about the bottlenecking but if im running at 1680x1050 with all the eye candy turned on it would then turn to gpu bound game? So would anyone try to sli a pair of 8800gts on this rig?

Hey man--- As far as your sig goes, pumping 2 8800GT's would more than likely NOT lead to a gpu bottleneck, if anything it would be a cpu bottleneck. Why not drop $100 on a 5000+BE and hike it up to ~3.2 GHz? Then you wouldn't have to worry about processing power either.

Check my sig. I tested my comp on my bro's monitor (1600x1200) and everything ran... basically smooth as butter. That leads me to conclude that:
1. Either you won't get a bottleneck at all at 1680x1050 or
2. It will be a cpu bottleneck.

Just a thought.... I'm getting ready to get a 1680x1050 monitor myself, and possibly drop another 3870 into my rig, so I'm in a similar situation as yourself.

Happy gaming!

yah I just spent $1200 to get out of skt 939. Well, hell, toss it in and see what happens. If all else fails, you'll already have 2 wicked video cards and a sweet monitor for when u upgrade ;)

Your current setup can run 8800 in SLI however, if i owned that rig i would settle for the one 8800 and think about updating the cpu, mobo and ram.

Having to fork out £££ or $$$ for an SLI rig to only run on 1680x1050 on a cpu bottlenecked rig would be IMO a waste ;).

It will run it, but there's the low possibilty that you dont have the PSU to run it. there will be a difference, but after this just save up for a new rig. The socket is dead.
