I'm apologizing now for the basic question. I'm planning on putting 3 SATA drives in computer. One for the OS and programs, the second for music files and MP3s., and the third for pictures and videos. I have read about RAID and since I am not looking to create backups or link the drives together to create a larger storage capacity, I don't think I need RAID. However, when I read my MB installation manual it makes it sound like I have to choose a RAID level when setting up my HDs. Do I need to install RAID, or can I just hook up my drives, install the SATA drivers to the OS and go? Thanks for the help!

No, you don't need RAID.

You don't need it and you don't want it.
