Which card should i get?

Im currently looking for a graphics card for my brother. I have 175-200$ to spend. My question is which one? Ive only bought Nvidia in the past. But Ive been reading about ATI the past couple days. I just want the best card i can get for the money. Not over 200$

512MB HD3850. It's going to be the best card under $200. The only other option is the 8800GT 256MB, but it's not going to run any new games over 1280x1024 w/o a serious performance hit.
