Futuremark's next goal: PC Game Development
They're the leading figure in PC benchmark programs, technology showcases and cutting edge demos. You'd be forgiven if you thought there was nothing else that Futuremark Corporation could do but amazingly there is, and today they've proudly announced just what that is. Say hello to the new Futuremark Games Studio!

Well I guess we can say (when they release a game) that the benchmarks represent actual gaming?

That would make sense, if they use the same methods for their benchmark tests as for their games. Which is highly likely as they already have them setup.

Lets just wait and see, a graphically good game is almost guaranteed, but a well playing game? Lets just hope they dont get too carried away with looks.

It should be a priceless monument in benchmarking history when this actually happens :D.

When I first saw the airship sequence, I was hoping that it was a game. I watched in rapt attention as it played out on a big HDTV at Fry's. I want to game in a Jules Verne-ian environment. More power to them!

I still remember my first Proxycon slideshow. I guess we will need a couple years for smooth max detail gameplay.

Didn't 2001 allow you to play the little truck benchmark if you bought the pro version?

Reply to nvalhalla

hmm, I bought the pro version but don't remember getting to drive that sweet red truck.

Reply to pauldh

The little floating truck that fires laser cannons? :??:

lol, yeah. I guess it's fond memories of watching my overclocking fps. Highest fps seen would be when that thing did it's powerslide. Seems i could guess how much my overall scores went up based on what was seen in that spot.

i always wanted to fly that dragon and roast all those people :P

I can just picture it, someone writing in about how they got 3 fps by using two HD 3970 X2 graphics cards and overclocking a couple QX 9770 processors. But why did they base the game on the Red Valley scene?

Other than that, they might have the ability to put together a decent game. They certainly know how to put together the graphics.

I'm sure I'm wrong, but can imagine Proxycon being turned into their first game.

I hope you can fly those ships, but I'm betting you can't.

That could happen. It looks like it does have some possibilities.

Moreso than most of the other demos.

I am just interested to see what they come up with. Hey...at the very least we get a new game developer...that never hurts.

LoL as far as I'm concerned the way the community treats crysis, it's more of a benchmark than a game heh.
I can see it now....

CrysisMark 2009 Can it be run at 2560x1600 Full Bore with sustained FPS of 30?!?! Click to find out now!

I just downloaded 2001. In addition to getting AMAZING framerates (1100+ in the adv PS test), I found there IS a little demo for the pro version! I know I remembered that correctly. I had always been curious about what the demo was like... If someone has the pro version and would like to send me the reg code I'd like to check it out. :)
