I have an IBM laptop which I leave on 24hrs a day for various reasons. Today when I went to use the laptop There was a balloon coming from the icon tray stating that a very imortant security download had be installed in my laptop, and that it had to re-start my computer to make it functional. This seems very fishy to me. I want to see what has been downloaded to this computer. Where would I look to find out. Any ideas on this?
If you have configured your OS to automatically download and install updates from MS, then re-start it for the update to finish installing. I just updated netframework from MS Update yesterday and it required a restart. You can check installed updates in control panel>add/remove programs, be sure the block next to "Show updates" is checked to see MS Windows, Office, etc. updates installed.
Hey, thanks for the advice... I am brand new to this site and am so happy to have found knowlegable people such as yourself to help me. I am very illiterate computer-wise, and I will be an active part of this forum for sure.
Your advice was right on target, and was the same advice I got from MrLinux. I posted the same question twice, because it was my first post and I accidentally posted it 2 times. Sorry... Anyway, thank you, you were exactly right and I learned that the fix you described was the .NET fix you refered to, and now I know where to look to find the history of automatic downloads on my machine.
