Greetings, everyone!

So, as the topic states I just wanna confirm what I suspect and have found during my browsing & searching the forum.

If I were to get a new CPU and run it at 4.0 ghz (400 x 10 or something) that means the bus is 400 mhz and rated fsb is 1600 mhz, right?

And now if I were to get some RAM for it too, I would only need 800 mhz in dual-channel, correct? 800 x 2 = 1600 mhz?

I had originally thought of getting 1600 mhz but they're quite expensive :)

The above statements goes for ddr2, I think. Not sure at all how it would look for ddr3. Anyway, answers are always appreciated!

My processor is at 445x9

This means each one of my DDR2-800 sticks has to run at 445mhz (445x2 = 890Mhz Total).

DDR2-800 dual channel means each stick runs at 400Mhz.

FSB = 4 x base speed. So: 400 x 4 = 1600
RAM = 2 x base speed. So: 400 x 2 = 800

------------------------------ Which Chip? Well, it depends on which set of thieving b@stardz you choose to support: The ones who use insider trading to enrich themselves while running their company into the ground? Or the ones who illegally pay vendors to not support the first group?

445x9 is 4005 mhz, nicey nice :)

And you're running ddr2-800 too, albeit a bit overclocked (90 mhz if i'm thinking in the right terms).. Interesting.

Well, that pretty much explains it. No need to buy 1600 mhz-memory sticks then, hooray!

DDR2-800 seem to suit my needs for my upcoming CPU!
