Data recovery

I have an acer extensa 5420 laptop and recently I used its restore option it came with to format the harddrive. I forgot to backup all my data so now its completely gone. Is there any way to recover my lost data?

For some reason the forum has let you post this in the wild west section of the site. I'd suggest that you would do better posting in:

Tom's Hardware > Forum > Storage > Hard Disks

The short answer is maybe. There is software out there that will sometimes work depending on just what has happened. Have a google for data recovery software windows and start reading.
