Hi, I am currently deciding between the GTS or the GT. Just curious, is the Stock Cooler/Fan of the Evga 8800gt bad? Like would it affect my performance/noise/etc. if I don't get an aftermarket?

Thanks

The 8800GT cooling is quite poor, thus during intense gaming, it becomes quite noisy.

I would get an 8800GTS 512MB since it runs cooler and performs better.

If you pick the GT, I'll reccomend getting this: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/ [...] =g40c21s66
As the stock cooler is terrible!

Personaly I suggest the GTS 512 (G92) save some time and hassle.

Well if you're going to spend $60 on the 8800GT, might as well get the 8800GTS 512MB.

I have the Gainward Golden Sample 8800GT. Factory overclocked and heard that it has alot more potential for overclocking as well. It uses a dual slot cooler which i find very quiet. Speeds up a bit during gaming but still can't heard during the gaming. Temeperatures under load are between 70 & 80. Never seen it above 80. I have a small case with bad airflow but I think 80 is still ok.

I had a 7600GT with a Zalman VF-900 before. The Gainward cooler is definitely alot quieter than this.

Do a search on google about gainward products using this cooler. Some impressive responses regarding it. Here's one

When stressing the GPU with ATI tools's artifact scanning or 3D view my 8800 GT doesn't go over 73°C. And when i'm gaming and the fan running at 100% it doesn't bother me. I have overclocked my GT to 729 core, 1740 shader and 1974 memory...

The 2 noisy GT fans (SLI) are ruining Oblivion for me. Peaceful music and sounds of the Oblivion world are drowned out which greatly effects immersiveness (for me anyway as I play with 5.1 speakers not headphones).
