So kind of putting together a build a couple months sooner than expected seeing as how some lovely construction people knocked around my now post postmortem box (we're talking Athlon 1800XP here...). Based on what I've seen here, the specs below seem to be a pretty workable update to present day specs.

Just wanted to test the waters to see if you guys notice any glaring conflicts/omissions/suggestions to improve, etc. Looks likes this pops out to be around the $900 range, but have some wiggle room if there are any updates that would grossly improve performance. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

for ~$10 more you can get a 750 gig hard drive:

I'm surprised - that power supply you're getting with your case actually looks pretty solid.

Other than that, solid choices all around.

Seeing as how I don't do a ton of gaming on this rig (though like the option), any thoughts about swapping out the 8800GT for:

DIAMOND Viper 3850PE3512O Radeon HD 3850 512MB

Overall $60 savings between the two and seemingly little performance loss per Tom's VGA charts.

solid build, i would stick with the 8800GT or GTS 512mb. Wolfseeker is also right about the hard drive, you can get more storage for only a few bucks extra. Would also recommend a CPU heatsink instead of stock cooling, something along the lines of a Thermalright 120 or Zalman 9700.

Good luck!
