I recently picked up this board for my new pc and I was curious if this revision will boot up my e8400 or if I will need a bios flash, if so what are the steps I would need to take after replacing it with an old Pentium 4 I have in order for me to upgrade the bios with minimal effort.

Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.00GHz,1333FSB,L2:6MB,65W,rev.C0):

Compatible since Bios: 0501

You can ask the retailer what bios it ships with.

(info from Asus CPU compatibility website)

If you need to Bios update with your P4, download the latest bios from the asus support website (it will be a .zip file).

Unzip it onto a USB flash drive and rename it to less than 8 characters, if it's too long it won't work.

When your bios starts, go to tools, and select asus EZflash. Then select the bios file on your usb from the list and it will automatically update your motherboard. (Note that your USB flash drive must be formatted as FAT32 to be recognized, but most are anyway..)

The rev 356.03 is the one listed on the cd accompanying the mb, is this the bios or is there another way to figure it out? Thanks for the help so far.

Only way to find out is to boot up with a supported processor, or call the retailer that you bought it from because they should have that information.

The rev 356.03 is the revision of the motherboard drivers.

If im not mistaken isnt the Striker 2 the same as P5n32-E. If so, Asus "tech" support told me they wouldnt make a bios to run 45nm DUAL cores on that mobo.
