Ok.. I recently built a new system and now randomly my monitor goes into standby mode and I can't get it to come back without restarting the PC.. I can't figure out why it does this... it's not the power settings... which currently have the monitor to never turn off... or the pc... which stays on.. just the monitor turns off...
It is on a DVI/VGA converter thingy.. apparently it really only does it when I'm in Unrealed 3.0 (UT3) Cause I can play WiC and UT3 sometimes without a hitch and nothing goes wrong...
Leave the case side off and put a house fan blowing into the case. Don't think it's your monitor, those cards run hot and you prolly got an older case with poor air flow. Get ATI Tool and monitor your temps when running 3dmark 06.
Umm, yeah I definitely have good airflow... running a smilodon case with about 7 fans.. it blows cool air... but the 8800gt I heard runs hot.
It's an old old... E74 monitor...
Edit: I lessened the problem by lowering my overclock on the 5000+ BE... it used to be 3.1 and it did it all the time now it's really only when playing Ued...

Hey, just had this problem. I checked and one of the tubing for the water had stopped the fan on the Video card so the card got to hot and stopped sending teh signal, i would assume. I zip tied the tube out of the way, voila no problem
