My desktop runs a little funky... but all the same it works. I have it in my bedroom and have connected wirelessly to my dads internet in the other room before. For some reason, I am now unable to connect to the server.. therefore not being able to run the internet even though it says it's connected. I have been sitting going through all the internet connect details trying to figure out the problem... please someone help as I am getting frustrated after hours of the same message appearing! Thanks!

is this via a router or via your dads machine with connection sharing?

 

also can your dads machine connect to the internet ok? have you tried restarting the modem/router?
