I have a mushkin 550w psu. So far it runs everything in my sig fine. the only question I have is whether my 12V voltage is ok...it 11.77V. Like I said I'm not having any problems, just wondering if it's within spec an what spec is

Spec should be +/- 3% for most PSUs
So 12 +/- 0.36 yields 11.64, So should be OK.
I am assumming that that is under full (for your computer) Load.
If it was measures with a light load then recheck it under load for instance while runing 3dmark06, or ATI tools with Show 3d enabled.

Noted had decimal in wrong place .036 should have been 0.36

Also, how are you measuring the voltage? If you are not using a multimeter stuck into the 12V molex plugs trick then I would take any reading with a grain of salt. I used to use PC Probe by ASUS until I noticed that the software differed from what my multimeter said.

You should be ok...and I've heard the same thing other's have mentioned. I have a Corsair TX750W and I was worried when I saw my 12V rail showing 11.84V in HW Monitor at idle. When under full load (i.e. Prime95 or OCCT) it drops to 11.7V. I talked to Corsair and looked at other manufacturer's specs and the spec is supposedly + or - 5% of 12V...therefore (11.4 - 12.6V) for a normal PSU. Seems like a big range so someone else may be able to provide further guidance but that is what my research found.
