Tranferring files between two internal hdd

so i successfully got my old hdd to be my slave in my new pc (running vista)
when i want to open up my old hdd, it request to be format (the old hdd was running an xp computer as master)
how can i open this hdd in my vista os pc? (my xp os pc broke down already so i cant use external drive)

Presumably your "old HDD" still has it's previous formatting etc on it,if you intend to use it as a slave you need to wipe off all the old stuff vista will help you to set it up as an extended drive with or without logical drives....
