I just got my parts in, put it all together but my PC will not turn on at all when I hit the power. The front led lights up for a split second, makes a click noise, then off..... Pressing the power again does nothing, unless I hit the kill switch on the PS off, then back on. When I do this, and press the front power again, same thing, a blink of light, then dead. No fans turn on, and no other lights. Nothing lights up when the kill switch is turned on either (no keyboard leds or anything at all.

Parts used--

thermaltake 500W PS (most likely suspect?)
E8400 CPU
Gigabyte DS3L mobo (rev.2)
2gb ddr800 ram (pc6400)
8800GTS 512mb
Stock heatsink\fan
250gb HD
floppy

I unplugged almost everything, leaving only the CPU,MOBO, and CPU fan plugged in. Nothing I am trying is working! I played with the pins, making sure they weren't in backwards even. Everything is brand new, not used, so I am clueless as to what to do. I don't have fancy equipment either to test currents.

Have you tried the MB outside of the case? With only 1 dimm of ram plugged in? Also, you can bypass your front panel power sw. by momentarily 'jumpering' the MB leads with a screwdriver, an actual jumper, whatever...

Ok problem solved, I was just being the noob that I am--- It was being shorted by touching the case (opps!) as I forgot to use mounting pushup screws. I then mounted the mobo in correctly, and then had to clear the CMOS in order to get anything to power up. After this it's been smooth sailing since.

Lovin it so far! E8400, 8800GTS! W00t! =)
