Hey,

I am planning to get either an E8400/8500 or a Q6600 for my GA-P31-DS3L.

Now, my questions are along the lines of:

In this thread http://www.pcpro.co.uk/shopper/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=262892&sid=caf5ab2b575819ad0b787e8ec9ecd273 the guy O/Cing the G0 Q6600 on my mobo hits an fsb wall of around 350. If that is true, then, if the E8400 and the Q6600 use the same multiplier (9), they'll both reach the same speeds? If that were so, I would have a choice between a quad core at 3Ghz, and a dual core at 3Ghz. I know what I'd pick if that were the case ^^

If you could just also help me understand RAM timings, that would be great. Not necessary, but great :D

Thanks

On the GA-P31-DS3L? The guys in that thread couldn't break 350, the mobo just couldn't handle it. Think that'll be the case?

The reviews I gave links to both managed to get 400FSB easily, so maybe the guys in the thread haven't tried lowering the cpu multiplier an just trying to get 400FSB on default multi with too little vcore etc...

Someone here on the forum must have this mobo so maybe they could try it just to give you some confidence that it can carry out the job you want from it ;).
