Internet disconnects when i try to download a big file (>1GB)

My internet always disconnects every time i try to download a file bigger than 1 GB. I was trying to download a game but my internet disconnected. I thought, "weird. this never happens." so i try to reconnect but cant. I have to restarts the computer. every single time i do this, it keeps happening.
I have a new router that works perfectly. I can surf the web, watch videos on YouTube but cant download anything that is a big file.
This started to happen yesterday with no warning at all.![:cry:]( ":cry:")
Please help me!

Factory reset the router and see if there are any improvements.
Note:
Once you factory reset the modem – any port forwarding/WiFi Security will revert to default, so you'll have to reconfigure these.
Meanwhile:
Free ADSL modem line stats monitoring programs like RouterStats (which I have used for years successfully in tracking down line issues) are very useful
