XP Pro does support multi-cores. However, the OS won't take advantage of multi-core, such as substantially performance boost with additional cores. But again, it looks like Vista also doesn't take full advantage of quad cores...

As long as you have service pack 2 installed, XP supports your quad.

The worst part of my Vista 64 experience is having to listen to all of the individuals who apparently feel it's their 'Grand Mission In Life' to tell me about all of the things that (supposedly) don't work, when it *does* work.

So pre-SP2 don't support multi-core?

Heh.. XP Home supports multi cores.

Just wanted to add:

XP Home supports 1 socket. (so that 1 physical CPU can have as many cores that your MB can support)

XP Pro supports 2 scockets.  (so that would be the older OS to run alike 4X4 or Skulltrail whatever the future holds)

Not sure about Vista, however if someone knows, I wouldn't mind finding out without searching MS site with FF.

XP Pro also has the added "doesn't suck" benefit over Vista

Awww, but Vista is shiny. I know, I know you can't polish a turd, but.... shiny.
