Ido not want to overkill my monitor. No need to have a video card that will out perform my monitor. I am looking to build a new system and I was thinking about the 8800 GTS 512 from EVGA. And here is my monitor
It is speced as follows
Samsung SyncMaster Size 19 " Diagonal (48 cm)
Display area 376.32 mm (H) x 301.056 mm (V)
Pixel Pitch 0.294 mm (H) x 0.294 mm (V)
Type a-si TFT active matrix
Synchronization
Horizontal 30 ~ 81 kHz
Vertical 56 ~ 75 Hz
Display Color
16.2 M Colors
Resolution
Optimum resolution 1280 x 1024@60 Hz
Maximum resolution 1280 x 1024@75 Hz931B.

don't really know what all that means but i figure someone here can point me to a card that is right. Currently I am running two 7300 GS in SLI.

What do you mean overkilling your monitor because of a powerful video card? That can't happen I'll tell you.

A 8800GTS 512MB is an excellent choice, but it may be too powerful for your PSU. List your system specs please.

Yeah... You can never have to much "card" for your monitor. I think it is true that better GPUs compliment bigger monitors and bigger monitors compliment better GPUs, but you should always get the best thing you can afford within your budget. I know when I bought a 19" monitor and loved it and worked great with my 7950GT but when I moved up to a Dell 24 my GPU just couldn't take advantage of it.

To troymscott.
While i understand what you are saying the others are esentially correct in that you can never have to good a gpu, If you have the funds then it makes sense to get the best there is and as pchoi04 says it will have some overhead should you decide to increase your monitor size.
I myself am currantly specing up a very similar system but due to budget constraints i have decided that anything above a 3850 would be overkill for the time being and i want to wait for the 700/770 and upgrade to that if they prove to be significantly better.
I would be very interested to find out how your system works out as mine wont be going together for about 2 months and i am particually interested in how the E8400 performs. If you get yours togrther before then please could you PM me and let me know how it is :)
Thanks Mactronix
