I have a Mitsubishi TV LT-3020
Tivo DVR HR10-250 hooked to satellite
No problems, then yesterday I got a:
Sony RDR-Vx500 combo vhs and dvd recorder
and hooked it up. Works fine, but routing the tivo audio through the
sony cuts the tv sound when I am not using the sony (its on, but not
playing). Tivo support is no help; they "don't support that function"!
I will be running audio through my amp, but until I get those speakers
connected, do I have to swich the audio cable every time I switch input?

Just use Y-connectors, and connect the audio from your Tivo to both.
