Forum Graphics & Displays : Graphics Cards 13000 good for 3dmark06 score?

Hey, im running a e8400 Wolfdale OC to 3.6 ghz and a BFG 8800GT 512mb. I ran 3dmark06, and got a score of around 13,000. I was wondering if this was an average score, or If it was low.

I think that's a little low, but it's acceptable.

My Q6600 @ 3.15GHz with an 8800GTS 320MB 672/1050 gets 13444.

thanks for the feedback. I had never ran a benchmark on my system until this. Does anyone recommend another one to check. Or is there any changes I could make to improve my score.

my E6600 @ 3.5 and XFX 8800GT @ 718 / 1006 gets 13425

wow, I should be getting much better scores then that. I dont have my 8800 GT OC at all. Should I try that?

Try OCing? Sure, go for it. Just keep your eyes on the temps.

Thats on an AMD PhenomX4 9600 BE at 2.6ghz core/ 2.4ghz NB-IMC with a Sapphire HD3870 video card, still need to do a bit of tweaking on the video, scoring lower on the video part than others with similar setups, but higher on the cpu score. Others with same proc and only up to 2.7ghz core are hitting 13k or higher with same vid card.

It aint just about running 3dmark06 u gota make sure msot program s are shut down reduce ur visual settings on desktop, make sure ur nvidia slider is set to performance, etc etc.

All help.

You dont have quad though, so 13k is about right.

I just posted on the motherboard section about the e8400 and mobos. I had an Asus P5N32 E and it will never be compatible with Wolfdale!! I flashed to the newest BIOS and still wouldnt run it at full power. I called Asus tech support and they told me that it would never accept wolfdale. Now I am using my Evga 680i LT board, which worked with no Bios flash. I know for sure all 680i LT, 680i, and 780i boards are compatible. But you have to make sure you buy XFX, Evga, BFG etc. Dont buy an Asus!!!

If I OC, I should be able to get to 14k right?

Not necesarily but yeh, should. You will likely still be bottlenecked by the CPU too.

In 3dmark06 anyway.

Just a small OC of the GPU and another few hundred mhz on the CPU will get you a lot closer.

i bumped up my cpu to 3.825 ghz and bumped my 8800gt to 700 core clock, 1753 shader clock and 1820 memory clock. I cant seem to get my 3dmark06 score to get above 13,000. I am wondering if I should get the full version, I am using the demo version as of now.

13,000 is good. I only get 11500 with a 8800GT and a e6400 @ 3.0 Ghz. You may want a Yorkfiled instead of giving your Wolfdale too much stress.
Keep using the demo version - this is what most people use.

I do a lot of video editing with my computer and visit this forum quite often for information. So tonight I decided to try 3dmark06 to see what my score would be and compared to the scores that you guys have been getting, I did not do to well. My score was a little over 5000 the first time. I then overclocked the GPU to 608/729 and got 5991. If I overclock any higher on the GPU it stops and says display driver failed and that is has reset. What's up? You can see my config below.

I was hoping someone could tell me why my (5991) score was so low?

dallasjoh, not to be mean but this is called hijacking a thread. However, your score is low because your video card is becoming dated. a quick google seach showed scores in the 5000 range for a x1950 pro. You are nearly at 6000 just because of your quad cpu

Reply to 256gej

3dMark is always slower in Vista, right?

I get 12,100 with a 8800GTS 512/E6750 3.00GHz in Vista.

I can barely get over 12K on 3DM06 even when I'm OC'd to the max, but everything I have is over a old except the mobo. So I think you're doing well. Try to OC your ram and GPU just a touch and see how far that gets you too.

Yeah I'd definitely say your are doing just fine with your 3dmark scores. With my 2900Pro 256-bit 512mb I get 11k, not bad for a $130 dollar GPU.

An MSI 3870x2 is on the way. It should be here by Tuesday. I'll be able to get a Phenom on March 15, with a 780G board for power saving mode (I'm sure they'll support it after a couple of bios'), though I'm tempted to go 790 for Crossfire 3870x2 when I can afford another one.

I'd have to get an Antec TPQ 850 or 1000 for Crossfire, because I only have an Antec Neo 550 right now, but I'd love to see two of those in Crossfire! It would be better than 4 3850's (not that those drivers are out either).

The Sapphire 3870x2 showed a 3DMark CD in the photo, but it didn't list the core clocks (ie some are 775, the ASUS and one other are 825 and the MSI is 850), so I didn't go for it. I'm glad I went for the MSI because I ordered on Friday morning for $449 and by Saturday morning the price had gone up to $499, when all the others remained the same.

When it's all together by mid March, I'll give 3D Mark 06 a try.

He's not hijacking this thread. If anyone is, I am, because I switched to responding to a Phenom owner about getting a Phenom and maybe Crossfire with 3870x2's.

This thread's about one guy's 3D Mark score. It's perfectly fine for someone else to ask why their score is low. Not everyone knows that their card, that once was a major hitter, is now playing slow pitch softball. So he has a right to ask. That makes more sense than posts about over clocking some chozzerai Wolfdale. If 3D Mark 06 has any value to gamers, it's to see how components at stock speeds stack up.

haha, well who cares whos hijacking what. I am really trying to get my 3dmark06 score above 14k. So thanks for all the advice, and to the guy who couldnt get above 6k. Its your gpu man, its way outdated. You forked out at least 1,000$ for that core2extreme. You should have bought a quad core and a 8800 GTX!!

Weird that the overclock didnt do anything to your score... 3dmark is very reliant on CPU score. With my quad at 3.6 and my card OC'd to 730/1720/1950 I have managed to brake 15k in teh past quite easily.

Thats on an nvidia board though, wait until my P35 gets here :D

All I can think of really is make sure your nvidia slider is all the way to performance... your cpu or gpu's arent getting a bit too hot are they?

That 16406 with a single card is juicy. Ill have to see how close I can get to that, although I know theres no way I could beat that lol.

Lol I am god at E Penis lmao. I just messed around with the settings for awhile and hit the sweet spot. It took me about 5 hours and me taking off the standard heatsink and putting on a Thermalright HR-03 Rev A which I had on my 1900xtx which their "thermalright's" website says won't work?
