cpuz core voltage reading doesn't change

I've been dropping my core voltages in bios for awhile now (from 1.325 down to 1.28 now) but the core voltage reading in cpu-z consistently fluctuates between 1.248-1.658 (something like that). Is this normal?

My motherboard is a Gigabyte EP35 DS3L
Btw, I turned off speedstep and C1E.
Overclocked to 9x333
PCI E frequency =100 mHz
CIA2 disabled
performance enhance standard
1:1 FSB RAM
all system volage set to normal except for Vcore (1.28)

edit: I now dropped the Vcore down to 1.25 and CPU-z still reads 1.248 to 1.264

  1. What version of cpuz are you using? What does the voltage read in the "health" settings of the bios?

    Vcor is at 1.300 in health... I dont know Why it's not dropping either.

    Dumb question, but are you hitting F10 to save the settings after you change it? What bios version do you have? Try updating it to the newest (f5) version.
  4. Yea, and the settings do save. It really jsut seems to refuse to drop in voltage. Though its not the end of the world, my temperatures seem to be ok, 57C under prime95.

    I'll try updating the bios when I can.

  6. You may have a setting in the BIOS that is called Load Line Calibration. That will effect the voltage reading in Windows.

    Correct! I was reading the voltages wrong. I stand corrected.
  8. I'm not exactly sure if this is the same thing. It seems to me that CPU Z and what now should be displaying lower voltages. I'm getting higher.

    Under PC health status, i'm getting 1.300 V as my Vcore. However, under my CPU VOltage Control, I set it to 1.250 V right now. Furthermore, no matter how much I change my voltage control in bios, the core voltage in CPU Z and other programs don't change at all.

  10. I updated the bios fo version f5 and now everything seems to be working. Thanks for your help guys.
