Due to annoying hitchings an judderings in my AMD rig ( http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] 0.html#bas ) Im gonna try my luck with Intel. So Im keeping everthing and changing only the mobo and the CPU. (and probably the GPU later on- currently I have 8800GTS 320)

I consulted a friend and he offered to get -

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3 (S775).... 130$

Q6600 ....350$

(prices here are a bit higher)

Sais it'll hold anything Ill throw at it on very high settings (cept for Crysis).

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Good choice going with intel. Intel is killing AMD right now.

Looks good. Not that there is anything wrong with the Q6600, but IMO the Q6600 is only useful if your multi tasking all the time. You should consider the E8400 if you aren't in need of a Quad.

Are u talking U.S. dollars? if yeah, thats expensive. If you are not going to use computer for massive hardcore encoding, or 3d rendering, I Highly recommend E8400, these are faster than q6600 in gaming, and it overclocks to the moon.

Thanks for the replies.
Forgot to mention- this rig is mainly for gaming.

About the E8400- they havent reached my locals yet- they should be here in 2-3 weeks and cost roughly 250$ (US).
I tend to follow your recommendation and get it but Im a bit wary about getting the latest tech.
Is this CPU proven to be issues-free? Can you point me to some benchmarks? (Comparisons to the Q6600 will be cool.)

Cheers
