I just replaced my 8800GT with an VisionTek HD 3870. I have a Viewsonic 22"(VX2235WM) monitor. For some reason this monitor wont work with the ATI card,i put the Nvidia card back in and it works,so I hooked up my old CRT to the 3870 and that works. I have all the drivers for the card, monitor and Vista 32 bit.

yea i checked twice,as far as i know all the drivers were gone. i was sitting at 800 res b4 i put the new card in. im so lost. i thought all monitors are pnp.
no, all montors work with all cards, dvi connection is universal, and why are you replacing your 8800 gt for 3870, hmmm. But what you need to do is completely remove the nvidia driver in safe mode with a driver uninstaller application. Then put 3870 in then install the 3870 driver, that is how it is supposed to be done.

the reson im replacining the 8800 is so i can run two cards in crossfire mode. Yes the 8800 i have been using since it came out,and the mb is compat with both. Im running a Intel E6850@3ghz,gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 mb,Corsair (PC2-8500)1066 ram@2gb,WD 150gb raptor,Corsair 620w ps.
thats fine, so completely remove the nvidia driver, part stays in system even though you unistalled it from add/remove programs, you need to try this to resolve your problem.

Go into your registry and manualy clean out keys form there as well.
