Windows xp dvd rw support

Hello, I copy some files from my laptop (Windows 7) onto a DVD-RW to transfer to my desktop (Windows XP), but when I inserted the DVD-RW into my desktop (Windows XP), it did not recognize the files were there. I double checked to make sure that I copied the files, and when I opened the DVD-RW on my laptop (Windows 7), the files appear. Does Windows 7 and Windows XP have a conflict when copying files on a DVD-RW?
