Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 Yorkfield 3.0GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 775 130W Quad-Core Processor
Is this really worth the 1k price tag it carries? I am a hardcore gamer but i do not think a quad core would be suitable for Crysis. My questions to you are what would be a suitable price for a cpu for high end gaming like Crysis? :bounce: :heink:

The Extreme (in my opinion) is really for extreme overclocking.

For pure gaming an E8400 would do just fine.

If you are fine with overclocking the Q6600 is the best value. Crysis is going to be more limited by the GPU and you are better off not getting the QX and getting a better GPU or running two of them.

I use a Q6600 running at 3.6 GHz and an 8800 GTS G92 at 750 MHz Core with a 16x10 Resolution with all High Settings (DX10 Hack for XP as well) and get playable frame rates with no slowdowns.
