I recently built an HTPC using a Gigabyte GV-RXt256h Radeon HD2400XT card, chosen primarily because it has S-Video out to connect to my standard definition TV. Things worked great at first but after making a screen size adjustment (no doubt I will be upgrading to an HD set in the near future) I only get black and white output on my screen. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium and have the latest drivers installed. Oddly, if I boot in safe mode I get a color screen, but when I go back to standard mode things go back to black and white.
Sounds like a problem with the drivers, or you tweaked somthing you shouldn't have. Easiest way I know of is to start all over.
When you load safe mode, Windows only loads the standard VGA drivers, at standard low resolution presets with nothing else enabled. I would completely unistall all your video card drivers, and reinstall.
Yeah, that seems to have done it, I uninstalled the drivers, rebooted and it detected the video card and installed a working driver. Now I'll try not to tweak anything too much
