Format raw drive to ntfs under windows 7

tried to format an internal hard drive from fat32 to ntfs under windows 7 in went to raw nothing on the hard drive so no worries about data loss but now cannot format to ntfs and i am seeking a fix to this problem so if anyone can help that would be great

Try to convert the drive instead of format.

From command prompt: Convert d: /FS:NTFS

This assumes drive d: is the fat32 drive. Enter correct drive letter as needed.

After conversion, format drive in NTFS.
