I ve just assembled a new rig .. E 7200 on a P35 board... i havent OCd yet... I used Realtemp 2.5 to get temp of my CPU...it shows an alarming 40 to 45 on idle.... NOTE:i ve not OCd yet and i Plan to do so... i'm in India and the room temp is indeed a little high... is this normal ??? or have i not installed the stock cooler properly ??

run prime 95 it loads the processor to almost 100%.
You can watch the the temps in realtemp 2.5 while the prime runs.
Here's the link for prime 95....http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=103
let us know what temps you hit..
*if you see the processor hitting 70C stop and let it cool down...that's too high!*

hmm.. that's interesting... my E7200 didn't surpass 30 degrees on boot and was at about 40-45 degrees on load. I believe it's the ambient temp causing the temps to go up.

At first my mobo wouldn't recognize my cpu so it ran around 19*c so I updated my bios (which fixed the recognision problem) and it started running at around 40-45*c (little to no load) and 50-53 under load (an hour of crysis lol) so I think that temp is fine (mines o'ced to 3GHz)

that temp you got now is fine. try increase the FSB and voltage see how high them temperature will get.

rememeber to run prime95 SMALL FFTS not large ffts or blend test.ok?
