whats the deal between the two?

I want an nvidia chipset but dont feel like paying the intel premium. I want a phenom solution and be able to have an SLI configuration. Any boards out there that allow this? Ive done a fair share of hunting today and ive come across nothing. The max I see nvidia doing is a 590 chipset and that is an AM2 board, no AM2+

Now the other option here is go w/ a intel Q6600 with a nvidia 7xx chipset.

the whole reason for all this is for SLI, but more dont want to go to 8x. I have a 570 chipset on my board, which has the 2 x16 ports. but when in SLI they run at x8, that is unacceptable. The reason I bought this board when i did i guess it was like 3-4 months ago was for the purpose being able to upgrade when the time came to SLI. Instead im learning a harsh lesson that its not fully 16x compatible.

anyone else dealing with my frustrations here? It appears to me that im gonna have to shell out 500 bucks for this new board and intel processor.. ugh..

WHY AMD AND NVIDIA???? WHY??????

SLI is an enthusiast setup. Phenom... not so much. So I suspect Nvidia is not in any rush at this point. I heard 750a/780a were in the works, but I haven't heard any news from that front lately.

Yes, I am anti SLI/Crossfire after choosing that route on my last build...

I will only do this again if I have the cash to buy multiple #1 video cards. Dual 3870x2 be cool or tri sli ultras... other wise don’t bother with it.

Even then, it seems like your money would gain more performance if spent in other areas of the PC.

I am glad someone is finally doing this, I am going micro atx soon but if these had come up a couple months ago I would have gotten a bigger case for one.
