Hi All,

Recently built a new system with an E8400 and a Gigabyte ep35c-ds3r mobo.

I have an otherwise stable overclock at 3.6ghz (FSB 400 x 9), but my problem is that when the system is overclocked by ANY AMOUNT, sleep mode will not work properly.

When OCed, even by 1mhz FSB, placing the system in sleep mode results in the system going to sleep as expected. When I try to wake the system, instead of waking up, the power cycles on and off every 5 seconds until I hold down the power button for a hard boot down. The system will not come out of this "power cycling" unless I give it the hard boot down. Often times, after re-booting, windows will launch "resuming windows," and will resume ok.

This problem does not occur when the system is running at stock frequencies (3.0Ghz, 333FSB x 9). I put the system to sleep, and can wake it immediately with mouse/keyboard.

I usually leave the voltages set to auto, but I have tried bumping the voltages up a bit manually and the sleep mode issue remains, though I am not ruling out a voltage problem.

Any ideas? I have a revision 2.1 of the board and have tried the F2 and F3b bios. Running Vista Ultimate 32-bit, with 4GB OCZ Platinum 5-4-4-12 @ 800mhz. Video= XFX GeForce 8600 GS.

Thanks for any help. Don't want to RMA the board, but I can not figure this out and losing sleep mode functionality is a bit of a deal breaker me.

Who put's their system to sleep now-a-days? lol.. j/k, whatever works for you, but definitely could be a voltage issue.

Make sure sure you're setting a high enough voltage for it to actually resume after sleeping. If it's too low, your system will freakout and keep trying to reboot to no avail. Try around 1.35V Vcore and see if it still does it. If that fixes it, then you can try lowering it a bit. Also make sure your memory is getting its recommended voltage, usually around 2.0V

Did some testing.... vCore @ 1.35V results in the system not booting into windows. A blue screen quickly appears and disappears before the bios re-boots. 1.30 does the same thing.

The memory is set to +.2V, so it should be getting the 2.0V.

I am having the same problems with GA-EP35-DS3P motherboard w/Kentsfield 2.4Ghz Q6600 overclocked to 3.0Ghz. Any amount of overclocking results in not being able to use the standby features of the motherboard. I can disable standby in Windows Vista 64, and the machine runs fine. I can shutdown and startup fine. But I cannot go into any standby mode other than turning my monitor off.

This is a big disappointment because I like the board, it has everything I want and need, and I've had success using other Gigabyte products. I would very much like to utilize the power saving features of my board.

I am having this problem as well, but I mostly notice it when I use my monitor with the DVI cable.
It happens rarely when I use the VGA cable.

I have notice many insatiability problems with the board lately, including my vista booting one day fine the next day there is not boot files on the partition.
I am starting to wonder if this board just has problems. Maybe I should have just went with a p45 board?

If you are having trouble with current Gigabyte boards, I recommend going to tweaktown.com where they have a Gigabyte forum to provide free technical support for their motherboards, graphics cards and other products!

http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/

I had memory timing issues on my P35-DS3L that I could not resolve and posted on their board and got a response within 2 hours - on the 4th of July. There are several moderators - if you get Lsdmeasap, tell him hello for me. He was a lifesaver for me. Helped me tweak memory timings to make my memory work properly.
