Did a PC build with following components;

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L, Radeon HD 3850 video card, E6750 CPU, 2 gigs of ram, DVD/CD burner, sound card, 1x hard drive, case with 2x 120mm fans, etc... I don't really plan on overclocking, if I do, it won't be much of anything.

My question is how big of a PSU I need? I know I want a quality one, just don't know about the size (watts, amps, etc..)

Originally, I picked this; PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 EPS12V EPS12V 610W

But today I used the eXtreme PSU calculator, and it said I only needed like a 280w. Huh? So I added a beefier video card, added a blue ray drive, a fan... and calculated again, and it only said like 320w!

Am I WAY over the top with a 610w? Because there's another PSU (same maker, PC Silencer) that's a 470w that's almost $50 cheaper!

What do ya'll think, go with my original 610w beast, or used the 470w which is still bigger then the calculator recommended 300w....?

Thanks!

The Corsair 450w will actually deliver more amps than the PCP&C 470w.
I would go with the Corsair 450w.

You are correct that you don't need as much power as you thought.
You would really only need the 610w model if you were going to go SLI.

I'd get the 610W. Those Silencer PSUs last a long time, and you never know what you'll add there in the future and how much juice it will need. Also, PSUs have better efficiency and lower noise if you don't load them too close to their max.

Maybe a Corsair 550VX from www.buy.com ...

That's very good too. Just as powerful as the 550VX (40A instead of 41A). The 520HX is modular, but the 550VX is cheaper and has the 6/8-pin PCI-E connector required by some ATI cards (e.g. 2900XT or 3870X2). Either would be fine here.
