I am trying to see if it is worth the effort to gut an old Gateway computer and rebuild it from scratch. I have heard that it is hard to find a motherboard that wold fit a gateway case. Is this true? Are there work arounds?

Gateway uses standard form factors. The only thing that could be an issue are the all in one systems or thin clients but even they usually are some reference design.
