My pc consists of: cpu e6600, mobo Intel BOXD975XBX2KR, ram khx6400d2k2/2g, video bfg 8800gts

oc'd my ram to 800mhz instead of the 667mhz as it comes, and then oc'd my cpu 333mhz multiplier x 9 as read in other thread would have been fine.

after doing so my pc reboots with 3 longs beeps mobo manual says this means no memory. so my question is when i install my new ram how will i know that i wont blow it to?

Well, thats interesting. OC'd the ram to 800 Mhz first, Via what? A divider? And then you changed the FSB to 333, which would automatically increase the ram again, because you had the divider in place already, making it 800 Mhz at the lower FSB speed.

So that would have made the RAM over 950 Mhz +

never seen it actually destroy the RAM sticks, have you already re set the CMOS to clear the over clock?

Are you sure they are dead? I mean, if the OC is in place, it will do it every time till removed.

:)

Now set the FSB to 333, and then select 666 for the ram, and perfect! Running in sync and everything!

And since your ram will at least get to 700 Mhz, you can make it 350 FSB while in sync, and get a bit more speed from your processor!

It's good up till around 3.6 Ghz.

Can you run Core Temp, or Real Temp, and list what they say your VID is, please? That info will help.

did as you said with the cpu at 333mhz and then the memory at 666 and still gives me the 3 beeps.

ran core temp and my vid at default settings is 1.1625v and fluctuates to 1.3250v

Wow, did I read that right? Isn't that sort of stuff supposed to be a secret, or something? Eewwww!

For Toxis, that means it is more than likely a 1.3250 VID. You must have C1E or speed step, or EIST enabled in the bios.

You can disable them with no problems. And then re test to be sure, since thats the worse VID, and also a common one.

And you have to be sure you set the memory mode to manual, then set Ram Frequency to sync mode. (Or double the FSB speed.) That way 350 FSB will give you 700 Mhz Ram.

You may need some North Bridge voltage as well, to maintain the higher FSB.

And since you are OCing, I assume you took the normal steps of disabling all spread spectrum options?

Disable all the CPU options too, like c1e and vanderpool, disable bit, etc!

Good luck!
