More Information

Hi all,

I am basically putting my first PC together and needed some advice on my choices and would like some guidance.

I need this PC primarily for work. My typical day would be working with Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Web, Visual Studio all same time and would need it at fast speed. Doing this on my laptop currently is pretty slow.

I'd also like to use the PC for Gaming and wouldn't mind spending a bit more for the extra performance and gfx. I would really like it to run CoD4, BioShock and other games at that level with ease at high fps.

My budget is about £700 (about $1400) but willing to go a little higher if its worth it.

This is what I have put together so far:

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR Edition" Retail / OcUK Value IP35 Pro Intel P35 Motherboard / 4GB OCZ PC-6400 Reaper Dual Channel
DDR2 Kit - Bundle

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] =GX-059-BG

Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case

Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKS) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] =HD-120-WD

Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKS) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] =HD-120-WD

OCZ StealthXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] -OC&tool=3

I may want to overclock the processor a little bit. Would it this withstand the heat? would i need to buy some fans? is everything compatible with eachother.

Remember I'm a newbie with building still :)

Any guidance and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
ahmnasa

1 - don't buy from overclockers.co.uk, buy from ebuyer; they're a lot cheaper... 2 - do you need 1TB of space just yet?
otherwise, it looks pretty good :)

if you want to OC, make sure to get a good cooler; the thermaltake ultra-120 is a good one, i think, and probably just add a case fan or 2 if the case allows, but that is a pretty cold case :P

nice build ;)
