Forced to underclock my memory.........

I am currently running 8g of g.skill pc8500 on a evga 780i. If I have the memory clocked at 1066 windows will freeze up either during boot, or shortly after. I found I can underclock the ram to 950 and windows runs fine.

Any thoughts?

I have this problem on my crosshair with 4 gigs of memory if i run it at its rated speed all crashes an stuff, but the moment it is slowed down from 800 to 600 it works fine.

Only thing I can think of, is bad RAM. A friend said link+sync the memory , works fine that way.

Any thoughts on link+sync?
