i was looking through newegg and found this xfx 8800gt with a weird looking cooler,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814150273

it looks like the same cooler from the 6800 series, and it doesnt seem to have any of the voltage regulator heatsinks, i was thinking of buying this one but am not sure if this cooler is good enough.

If it would be damaging to the card, they wouldn't sell the card with one on there, they don't want to have to pay to RMA a whole series of cards. It might be a bit hotter running then another 8800GT would be, but I wouldn't worry about stability.

Yeah, I wouldnt worry about it to much. I could be wrong but I think XFX also supports aftermarket cooling.
