Does anyone know when I can expect price drops for Intel's relatively new e8400 processor? Right now at newegg it is priced at $240, which is too much for me. I have always been an AMD kid, and don't know about any new Intel processors/price drops that may be occurring over the next few months. Can anyone tell me weather it could drop below $200 by May? Or should I start looking for a different processor?

Price gouging should subside over the coming months. The official tray price is actually $183, so really they should be selling for around $190 - $200 without price gouging.
Intel decided to delay releasing its 45nm quad-cores (because AMD's CPUs can't even compete with the dual-cores, much less quad-cores), so the e8xxx are pretty much the only game in town right now. Unless you need a quad-core, there's not much point in getting an e6xxx any more, so demand is pretty high for e8xxx's, even at 25% markups.
