Yeah the 8600GT still beats the 6600GT pretty handily. The reason they put DDR2 on some of the 8600GT's is because they will usually put a 512MB memory buffer, that way the inexperienced will buy them instead, because it costs less to use GDD2 512mb than it does to use GDD3 256mb.
I'd say the 8600GT DDR2 is about 10% than the 6800 Ultra, so there's no way the 6600GT would beat it. Btw, 6600GT was a great card when it came out and it can still somewhat game, at least at low settings.
