Ok the 8600GT and even 7600GT is faster than 6600GT generally (forget about DX10 time being).

But what if the 6600GT has faster memory ie. DDR3 compared to DDR2 on a 8600GT card (i've seen 8600gt's advertised with DDR2 mem)?

And why would some manufacturers of 8600GT cards use DDR2 instead of DDR3? (DDR2 is'nt realy a GT card spec is it?)

Thanks for your replies,

Yeah the 8600GT still beats the 6600GT pretty handily. The reason they put DDR2 on some of the 8600GT's is because they will usually put a 512MB memory buffer, that way the inexperienced will buy them instead, because it costs less to use GDD2 512mb than it does to use GDD3 256mb.

I'd say the 8600GT DDR2 is about 10% than the 6800 Ultra, so there's no way the 6600GT would beat it. Btw, 6600GT was a great card when it came out and it can still somewhat game, at least at low settings.
