Hi,
I recently acquired an AMD T-Bird 1.3 GHz chip for a secondary computer I have. It currently has a Duron 900 which I plan to replace with the T-Bird. I have an Athlon XP 2400+ stock cooler that I am not using. The heatsink is only aluminum, but will it cool the T-Bird without issue? Thanks.

My System:

T Birds don't put off much power, it should do alright. If you want a good aftermarket cooler the Aerocool HT101Jr is a good one that's Socket A compatible, but honestly I wouldn't spend so much on an aged system.

yeah the cooler should be fine. it's all socket A, so it'll fit fine. it's meant to cool something that runs hotter, namely a 2400+. that 1.3 is kind of like a 1400+. cooling shouldn't be an issue.

LOL I love those old Turdbirds, I have one sitting on my desk somewhere...

a nice copper cooler for the turdbird will cost more than you paid for the turdbird...

Yup. ... thunderturd ... lol. I killed one of those once, that's why you shouldn't use a screwdriver to install that stupid heatsink clip.
