I'd get the Corsair HX 620w PSU instead. I would also suggest getting the nVidia 8800 GTS 512mb instead of the 3870.

For about the same price as your current PSU, you can get a PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750. It's a top notch, silent PSU that will handle just about anything you throw at it. That being said, Corsair is also a good brand. :)

3870x2 is going to outperform the GTS, plus the motherboard he chose has an X38 chipset. That means it will support Crossfire, but not SLI... so he could never throw in a 2nd GTS.

For his current hardware selection, the 3870x2 just makes more sense.

You can't SLI on an X38 chipset. Only dual ATI cards, or Crossfire, make sure you understand this before you purchase and plan to SLI later on down the road.

Both of the above boards are good. If you want, just buy the ASUS Maxiumus Formula SE... I don't think there is a price difference, so it only makes sense to grab it anyway. Honestly, I don't think it will matter which one you choose.
