all e4*** will top out 3.2to 3.5 Ghz under normal cooling, if you already decide to OC the cpu, E4300 is good enough. and e4500 will not match the e6550.

An E4300 will overclock to 3.0 GHz with 667 MHz RAM.

e4500 is 11 multi. e4300 is 9 multi. so if the target is 3 GHZ, the ram will be 270(e4500), 333( E4300), the pc2 6400 capcable run 400, so it should be good. By the way, you should get more information before you OC the cpu. Go check out OC fourm.

i dont want too overclock more than 2.6 ghz. is e45oo good or AMD 5200 or 5600 for gameing performance?

i have used both the e4300 and the e4500 they both overclock about the same, around 3.2 on stock cooling, the e4500 won't require as good of ram because it has a higher multiplier (11 vs 9). Another thing going for the e4500 is that has that speed throttle thing that lets it undeclock itself in idle mode, the e4300 doesn't.

Go for the e4500 it is about 20 bucks cheaper, the e4300 is no longer being made so its price is inflated. Amd's cpus can't come close to an e4500 at 3.2 and it consumes less power

The E4300 also has speed step.
