No Audio Output

I cannot hear any sound from my PC, I tried connecting through both the front panel and the back panel to no avail.
I however did notice that the only panel option available on Realtek HD seems to be the Realtek HD Audio rear output and that doesn't work.
It's quite frustrating because I can't hear any sound from my computer even when I used a headphone.

My question then is:
1. how do I change from Realtek HD Audio rear output ie back panel to front panel?
2. is there anything else I should do?

check your playback devices! and set them up correctly

I've tried that fowang but Realtek HD Audio rear output has been set as the only option available as my pc's Sound playback's Default device and i can't change it.

Can you please tell me how to do this?
